Our demonstrator for the January demo was Paul George. The demo was on January 8, 2003. Paul demonstrated a watercolor landscape.
We have some photographs of the event in case you could not make it to the show in person. You can click on any of the images on this page to view a larger version of it. Then, use the Back button on your browser to return to this page.
We set up the mirror so that Paul could work with his painting in a horizontal position. Here is Paul with his setup.
In spite of the cold weather we had quite a crowd for this demo.
Paul began by blocking in some of the shadows in the foreground. This is to be a snow scene.
Then some trees went into the foreground, and the darks in the background were started.
Finally, the details in the background and on the rocks finish the painting.
Paul showed us how the painting looks in a frame.
The crowd was quite pleased with the results, and went off inspired to do some painting of their own.
Paul George is a member of Cape Cod, North Shore, and New England Watercolor Societies', and is currently Vice President of the Rockport Art Association. His paintings are in collections throughout the United States and Europe.
