October 2006 Demonstration

Our demonstrator for the October demo was Harold Kloongian. He demonstrated an oil landscape.

The meeting was held in the Guild Hall at the First Congregational Church of Reading (middle side door) at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 11th , 2006

Pallette

First off, Harold showed us his pallette.
He uses a small pallette of basically primary colors.



Sketch

He works from sketches that he does on-site.
Here he shows us the sketch that he will use for the demo.



Drawing

After making a drawing with charcoal, Harold begins by
blocking in the major shapes and masses of the painting.

You can see in this photo that he has added large areas of color.

Harold Kloongian

Harold Kloongian, was born in Massachusetts and received his art education at the Art Institute of Boston (on scholarship), the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, and Boston University. He also studied with notable artists Emile Gruppe, John Pike, Edgar Whitney, and Frank Rines.

Throughout his career, Harold was an illustrator, art director, publications production manager, and before retirement, Director of Publications for the Avco Research Labaoratory - Textron.

Harold devotes his time to painting and support of the arts. He served one term as Vice President and three terms as President of the North Shore Arts Association in Gloucester. His work is representative of the New England scene, which consists of landscapes and seascapes. He is an artist member and recipient of awards from the following organizations: The North Shore Arts Association, Hudson Valley Art Association, Academic Artist Association, and Rockport Art Association.
