Steve Lush is a self-taught artist and master model shipwright. He works mostly with watercolor, oil, gouache and sometimes pastels (or all three combined). Many of his maritime-themed pieces are a result of research on specific ship construction plans and port scenes. Besides his plein air sketches or pencil studies, Steve has a large collection of reference books, ship construction plans and the model ships he has built to compose his paintings. His painting style is "painterly" adding detail in the process. He is a Signature Member of the American Society of Marine Artists (ASMA) and of the New England Watercolor Society and artist member of the Rockport Art Association, Rockport, MA, and the North Shore Arts Association, Gloucester, MA.
