Spring Show 2009

The Spring Show was a good one. We had plenty of good art to look at and appreciate. The show was held on May 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.

Before we get to the photographs, here are the award winners:

Special Recognition Award
A Special Recognition Award was given to Grace Cherwek and Evelyn Knox for the stage setting, which they called "Monet's Garden". You can see a photo of the stage below.

Daniel Sheldon was the lucky winner of Jeannette Corbett's beautiful painting. Thank you, Jeannette, for your generous gift.

The stage setting was an impressive rendition of Claude Monet's Gardens and house.

Here are the bios of the judges

Suzanne Brailey

Suzanne Brailey, Gloucester, paints mainly in watercolors and pastels. She studied fashion and graphic design, so she tends to create vignettes of everyday life with people in settings. She has won numerous awards, and is a member of the Rockport Art Association, Copley Society and Academic Artists, and the New England Watercolor Society.

John Fleming

John Fleming, Rockport, worked for years as a commercial artist, illustrator, and jewelry designer, and currently teaches at the Rockport Art Association, along with a career in sculpture, graphic artist, and painter. John is a member of the North Shore Art Association, and the Rockport Art Association. He has won numerous awards for his welded figure sculptures and graphics depicting Cape Ann.
